Is there a good place to send my knife to so I can get the edge reprofiled?

The tip of my PM2 randomly broke off today while cutting watermelon?!? And its a pretty big piece of it to.. How on earth does that happen? Because I am no expert in sharpening I obviously don't know how to reprofile the edge of a knife. So I was wondering if there is someone I can send it to so I can get the edge fixed & the tip fixed up.

Razor edge knives can hook you up.

Just grind it down yourself, you can do it...I have had a few with broken tips that I had to regrind, mostly Saks but I have redone a couple of tanto points to drop pt. Conversion and they came out decent...I am cheering you on

On a watermelon??? Wow. I would consider a call to Spyderco. I know the point of the PM2 is fragile, but that seems ridiculous. Maybe the blade temper is off.

^This.

I think the tip of a needle is more fragile than that of PM2. Try to poke a watermelon with a needle to see if the tip will break off. Something is wrong with the knife unless the OP was cutting the watermelon on a rock and slipped the PM2 right into it.

Seems a tip breaking in watermelon might be an issue but some rinds are very hard if you prued some it could happen ...

but Josh @ REK Sharpening is as good as you'll find and very easy to communicate with ... check his website REK Sharpening ... under the contact him you will find email and a phone number.

I would send it to Spyderco for replacement and then send it to REK for regrinding.

Spyderco is a life guarantee , I sent a 15 yo Endura serrated to them because it was dull.
Sent me a new Endura and sharpend the old knife and sent it back as well . Winner!

Sounds like it may be a warranty problem if that's the way it broke. I'd lean towards sending it for warranty in case of a heat treat issue. No point in spending money and time to reprofile a blade with a bad heat treat imo

Broken record, REK is the man!
