is there a machinist on the board that would not mind making me a part from 6061 aluminum? i have the piece of 6061 with the outline marked as to what i need. the 6061 is 1" thick the part is fairly small. if someone would be willing i weould really appreciate it. thank you

Does the piece require CNC?? There are several of us on the boards Nathan the machinist is one, I am also a machinist but do not have access to a CNC right now. Do you have any dimensioned drawings?. Or at least a picture of the part with markings and a reference in the picture. If we could see this it might be easier.

As Chuck said, a pict or scan would be helpful. If you're having trouble posting it you can email it to me and I'll post it.

Hey Nathan - our next meeting will be in Denton, which I think is closer to you than some of our other meetings, hope you can make it out to that one.

Back to the topic.

Might be a few more machinists than you realize. I have some of my machining up for sale as I don't care for the knife. The engraving that is...

I didn't tell anyone on this board for a long time that I was a machinist. 18yrs or so working on CNC's and manuals. Have ran quite a bit of machinery in that time...Some pretty incredible capabilities in it. My item is up for the trade section of the exchange. Engraved a Ti handle with a tribal pattern that I liked. Turned out alright...Just the blade is the wrong shape for me.:D
