Went for a walk yesterday through the hay field to the woodlot. I found three types of mushrooms (or fungi) on the way there. Its been very wet for the past two weeks. Rain pretty much every other day with heavy thunderstorms.
Not so good for the hay. We were forced to cut this because the stalk was getting too hard for first cut. It hasent been very good in the region for hay producers. Its a shame, as with many grains this year, its in high demand.
These little buggers are all over my lawn. I think they are juvenile versions of the ones that I see opened flat, but not much taller. Probably highly posionous, wouldnt make a very good treat for the chickens or dog.
This is a strange one. I have no idea what these are or if they are a fungi at all. Found them on the way to the woodlot.
And one more I found on the way back. Looks like something I used to eat as a teenager. :barf:
Ive always been interested in mushroom identification. Hazardous occupation I know. The size of the genus seems so overwhelming.
Oh ya, those chicks I got back in april?
They turned out really well. The 5-6 lb meatbirds are sold or in the freezer. The laying birds are now roaming around the property. Ive got a new batch of meatbirds in the shed, plus a couple barred rock chicks. I should have eggs by september.
