A friend of mine says he getting the Native IV, I was saying that is a lot of $$ for his usual knife spending habit - he indicated that no,
he was not getting the CF one - but the "regular" Native IV...is there a regular Native IV out and I missed it?

You can send a Native 3 to Tom Krein for a regrind to a full flat grind like I did, I guess that is as close to a Native IV without the CF as you can get now. The CF knife does look real nice and classy, it definately looks worth the money and more when you look at the total package.

The "Regular" native is the Native 3. Those are the two current models out.
While the C78 Native III is currently in production, I'm not sure there are many who would call it the "regular" Native.

Think the OP's friend may be confused because the Native IV, which is only available in CF, shares the same C41 model number with the "original recipe" FRN Native. The FRN C41 is alive and well, but has not yet morphed into the Native IV configuration. It's also the one most of us would call the "regular" Native.

It's easy to grin when your ship comes in and good fortune and fame are your lot, but the man worthwhile is the man who can smile with his shorts twsited up in a knot. - Morey Amsterdam

Is what you're calling the "FRN Native" currently in production? Perhaps you could share with us what makes it more "Regular" than the Native III.

FRN Native: Just like the very first native, except S30v Steel, barrel bolt attached standard clip, Golden Made

Native III: Wire Clip, VG10 steel, Japan made

Native IV: CF, Wire clip, VG10 FFG, Japan made

All three are in production still AFAIK

Yes, the FRN C41 Native is still in the lineup, can be had with a black handle in PE and CE, with a pink handle in PE, or with a black handle and black blade in PE. As ousanas suggested, it's the one most folks would consider to be the "regular" Native because it has been in continuous production since 1998 and, aside from blade steel and clip color, has not changed in any noticeable way. Compared to it the Native III is a relative newcomer which was added to the lineup in 2003.
