Is there a Polishing sticky anywhere?

I am interested in polishing carbon and stainless steel. What to start with (sandpaper? what grit?) and what progression of grits to use. Also where do you transition from sandpaper to buffing (last sandpaper grit and first buffing grit)?

Look on YouTube for "hand sanding 101" Nick Wheeler does an awesome tutorial on hand sanding, I don't recall if it goes into mirror finishes or not, but it'll give you a good idea on how to start!
