Is there a "stainless" equivalent to an ESEE 3???

I like the nyala but I want a kydex sheath and it isn't very tacticool. The esee 3 is a little thick with handle scales, I was really hoping to find a skeletonized handle/knife that I could just cord wrap or leave alone so it would stay really slim.

how about the buck/mayo kaala?

another good option to consider is the spyderco elmax mule (as two other members already stated). then you can have a kydex sheath made for it.

Another vote for the Fallkniven F1. Nothing wrong with carbon steel though, why do you need stainless?

I'm watching for the mule on Monday, who are some good sheath makers though? The Fallkniven seems kinda pricey, but I looked at a "limited" one with a black handle. Also, the Fallkniven said it came with a leather sheath. The reason I want something stainless is that my izula and hest were rust prone even though I wiped them down frequently. I'm pretty sure my sweat is to blame, not the knife, because I can rust just about anything. That being said, I'd like to avoid the issue altogether if I can.

The Fallknivens come with either a Zytel (plastic) or leather sheath. They are worth the money.

Look at the Lionsteel M2 very nice little knife ,got one about 2 months ago mine is 440c or can't recall right off hand ,also look at Fox pro hunter awesome knife and somewhat under-rated w/n690co steel

That little fixed blade Kershaw skinning knife thing is a nice little knife (the big one looks like fried brains). The handle slabs aren't great but you could always pull them off. It appears to be Izula-ish in size.

There's also a Kershaw fixed blade Skyline I think sold at Cabelas. It's not a huge knife but it looks pretty sweet.

I have battery acid sweat too, Matt, so I have to be more meticulous carring for my steel than most.It is kind of a drag. Is it worth the extra trouble? Well, that is more a matter of taste than fact. You gotta get the tool that fits best into your life.

I had a Benchmade Rant a long time ago... lots of blade styles, rubber handles and 154CM... all for about $60.
