Is there a Strider doctor in the house?

Do NOT bend the lockbar. The problem is and was stated above that the ti lockbar has worn from when it was new. Send it in to Strider and let them fix it. Most likely they will fix it by replacing the stop pin with a slightly larger diameter which will result in earlier lockup. I've used Strider's CS with my SnG and I got it back in like 2-3 weeks and the knife was better than new.

If you send it in make sure you leave a note with the problem and your contact info. If you need to contact the shop this is the only method that WILL give you results : heather@striderknives.com Send the knife with $15 for return shipping and wait.

Exactly. Thank you. If my little test helps then this is your problem and you need to send it it. So they can put a cap on it.

Yes Socom, when i do this, the lockbar overlaps only 25%. Perfect.

Good, Awesome. Contact Strider and they will take care of you. I did this with my SMF and they put a cap on the Ti side to make it a tiny bit bigger. Locks up perfect now. It did take 4 weeks to get it back but it was good as new and they also sharpened it for me.

I have never seen other frame locks with the black smut on the blade tang which leads me to believe that Strider doesn't harden end of lock bar which promotes rapid wear.

My SnG CC also developed that black crud you mentioned, but it seemed to mostly be on the lock bar face where it meets the blade tang. Soft titanium that wears too quickly... hmmm, interesting. What's also interesting to me is that there was no blade play as long as I left it there, but after wiping it off it developed up-down play. I gently bent the lock bar in a bit and the play was fixed. But still, soft or prematurely worn titanium on a $475 knife?!? Can't say it surprises me given the brand.

KM's nose...Glad you fixed your knife. You are correct about brand lock bar wear-premature compared to other Ti frame locks.

I have said it before, I like the Strider "tacticool" look and the blades are designed and made well and are great cutting tools. Strider seems challenged in making Ti frame locks.

I bought my second Strider knowing these shortcomings. I will not become a fanboy waiting for my knife to be returned from a trip it didn't need to make so Strider could work magic. I am begining to believe this is all about stoking the cult status of these knives.
