  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Is there a term to describe these knives?

Well, the China Made Two Blade Mini Hipster Knife has come and gone. It didn't stay around long enough to take a decent picture. The blades were a pen and a cap lifter/screwdriver. The screwdriver blade has rounded edges; I suspect it would ride up out of the slot of all but the easiest screws. The carabiner interfered and prevented any decent grip on the knife, rendering it pretty much useless or at least awkward for most tasks. The carabiner might have saved it, but the spring/bail refused to stay in place.

I awarded it to my son's most hipsterish friend (by a consensus of his peers). I'm not sure he is happy to have it.

When friction folders were first made in Europe, I think the term "Penny Knife" was used. I have seen this term also used in many of the old catalog pages shown here to describe simple knives made for pure utility at a low price.
