hi, all
i am just curious about that , is there a test on maddog knife ?

if there is , please give me a clue or just a link , thanks

I think it was Mike Turber who did some tests... probably around 1999 or 2000. Wasn't that all posted on B/F? I must be getting old.

Cliff Stamp tested a TUSK knife and it broke. Mad Dog (Kevin McClung) said it probably had a bad heat treatment and replaced the knife, and that knife also broke. Then Kevin McClung refused to replace it again and claimed that the tests were knife abuse.

FWIW, both Kevin and Cliff Stamp both are gone from these forums. Cliff's website with his testing notes also appears dead.

Here's some links to Mad Dog discussions this should give you plenty of reading:

a couple ,uh , one knife will be fine , i thank you in advance !

ps: do you wanta mail a knife to china ?:D:D:D just a kidding .

So how tough does a knife have to be? If you want to whack on a tree try an axe. Do you really need to hammer through cinder blocks or steel bars with a knife? The quest for a "super" knife is something of a fetish. Who cares if MadDogs aren't as great as advertised? Hype sells these and a whole lot of other super knives that mostly never get used. A $20 Mora will suffice for most knife needs if truth be told.

i think a quote of talk my friend and i made can answer you !

" i wont use a knfe for anything its not supposed to be used for but its nice to know that it will hold up to stuff its not meant to be used for"

"easy to understand. a lot of guys dont like how he tests but i do. if you need to use a knife to climb a tree, its nice to know it wont break if you stick it in a tree and stand on the handle "

My opinion, you pay a huge "hype" premium for a MadDog. Look to Busse or Fallkniven if you need a tank like knife to be used in heavy duty.

OR...you could pay ~$100 for a Ranger if you want to buy a pointy tree step.

my hype on maddog ? , no , look back to see my words on MD:D:D:D

i just wanta watch a D-test on MD .

Good luck. Few will volunteer up an expensive knife for a destructive test. I doubt MadDog will offer such. Cliff Stamp's experience with the TUSK should tell you enough.
