in the Sebenza, Strider type (price, quality of work, materials, availability) that I can consider? Just to get something different. I own and like the above.
 
william henry makes some non damascus knives that fit nicely into that price range and they are all very, very nive.
 
Sebenza & Strider are very nice knives,and few are made to their standards, Spyderco makes extremely well made production knives for about 1/4th the price, they use the same steels in the above listed knives and are extremely durable,also as far as avalibility,you can find every model made in roughly every online knife shop,and your local cutlery shop cant not have them another really high quality knife is the AlMar SERE
it will run you roughly the same price as a higher end Spyderco
 
IMHO the xm-18 takes the toughness of the strider and the smoothness of the Sebenza and melds them perfectly. Good luck finding one at a price near retail.

hes either the dumbest person ever or hes a troll. either way, this is rediculous. anyone who has ever held a sebenza or a strider would never compare a spyderco (or bm, or zt, or any other high end production company) to it as an equal knife. the al mar sere is actually not the worst suggestion in the world but it too just isnt on the same level. but I can see why you like it, its got OPERATOR right in the title.

the hinderer is a great suggestion but my understanding is they are hard to come by and the prices have really shot up for anyone trying to buy one second hand.

maybe you could buy up to one of ohta's knives.
 
There are many customs that can be bought for the same price as Striders or Sebenza's or slightly more.There are dozens of folder makers that now build framelocks.
 
jacktrades---Go to the SteelAddiction Web-Site. You'll see a whole bunch of WT's. They're not for everybody.
 
I will toss the Burke Production Rockstar in the mix as well. A bit less than either the Seb or the Strider . Also the BM 630 and 635 are other options.

Try to handle each one you are interested in , then go with what feels best to you. Each has a totally different feel.

I will toss Joe Caswell , Mike Draper and Brian Fellholter in the mix as well , and if you can find a folder from the Jones Brothers , you scored well ( though I am unsure of their current pricing ).

Based on your response - I'd second the later action by the mods. Give me a break - people are entitled to their opinion especially when the OP asks it. The person was not being offensive just giving what they thought was a good suggestion. You were the one being offensive :mad:

If you think he is an idiot, get out of here. You don't have to look or respond to the thread tough guy. If he thinks spydercos are as good, he can, it's an opinion, he didn't state it as factual.

I would say the XM-18.I will also agree about the Burke Production Rockstar!! I agree with JTW's suggestions.
 
It's a little heavier than I like but the Zero Tolerance 300 series are very high quality and cost about $230 at most online stores. From every review I read they compare very well to Strider folders. They are constructed similarly too - half titanium/half g10 handles, framelock, s30v steel. The only parts I don't care for is the weight *8oz* and that the knife is so wide. But for half the cost of the SNG it's definitely worth considering. I'm thinking of getting one myself.

Also just my opinion but I have the Spyderco Caly 3 and a small Sebenza and I prefer the Caly 3. Both are great knives though.
