I'm a fan of manually-operated frame locks, with a wide blade, and under 3 inches long. No assisted opening knives need apply, please.
In between the $300-plus Sebenza and the under-$10 (plus shipping from China) Sanrenmu 710, I found only a few models that fit my criteria.
I have the Spyderco Sage Ti (wonderful wide S30V blade, just like its liner lock stable mate), and the Bradley Alias II (well-made, good materials.) The Sage is nearly $150 and the Bradley costs even more.
I also have the ZT 0551, but it's too big and heavy for me to pocket edc and its street price is $200.
More moderately priced is the all-metal, frame lock CRKT Drifter, at about $20 plus shipping (not to be confused with the G10 liner lock Drifter).
The frame lock Drifter is comparable to its Chinese-made cousin, the Sanrenmu 710. But you can buy Drifters from US dealers. Choose the Drifter or 710, depending upon the aesthetics you prefer and whether you mind doing business abroad.
As for Sebenzas, because of the price, I'd be hesitant to take one out of the house unless I could afford a second (yikes!) as backup.
That leaves the 710.
What I'd like to find is something like the 710, with a wide blade like the Doug Ritter BM models -- and with better materials than Sanrenmu's Chinese steel.
Meanwhile, the 710 gets a lot of pocket time. It's fun to play with and just the right size for pocket edcing.
