I was wondering if there was such a thing as putting too much lanolin products on horn or bone handles. Would too much make the bone/horn soft? Or would it be like wood, after a certain point it just won't absorb anymore goop.

Answered your own question didn't ya.:D Horn is primarily protien, bone/antler is calcium, and wood is hard, fibrous, plant matter. The thing they have in common is longtitudinal fibers. Only place the "Goop" can go is the spaces between the fibers. Even if you fill those spaces to the point of saturation, it would only be temporary due to the evaporative effects of drying. That is, unless your "Goop" happens to be lacquer, shellac, polyurethane, etc.
