Is there L:E:D conversions for c battery mag-lites ?

i know this is off topic but does anyone find that LEDs give a blurry light thats hard to pick out anything your shining?!

I find that to be true with the slightly blue tinted 5 mm LEDs, but not the whiter Luxeons with 1 watt or greater power.

I bought the nite eyes led and was not satisfied. The emmitter has a purple tint that really messes with my visual acuity. I need a white light. I have heard good things about the diamond LEDs and will try them.

As flashlights go, small and bright kills batteries, big and dim lasts longer.

My current cary is a regulated fenix 1-AA 3W to start and backed up with an unregulated minimag led conversion. The fenix will run maybe 3 hours full bright. I still don't know how long the minimag will run, but it's long...

That intrigues me . While I don,t find my 3C a chore to carry I didn,t know you can buy a min-mag L:E: flashlight . How do they compare to the original min-mag for brightness, focus ?

They don't focus as tightly as the incandescent MiniMag, but considering how much more light they pump out, they don't really have to.

Looks like I have some photos to take this week anyway, I'll try to remember to take some comparative beam shots of the stock 2- and 3-cell Mags, the Nite-Ize, the Diamond 3W, the MagLED upgrade, the stock MiniMag and the MiniMagLED... did I miss any?

True, but there's only so much you can really do with one alkaline cell and an 8mm reflector. Unlike such 1xAAA LED lights as the Fenix L0P, there's no room for any electronics, either.

I have a few LED-modded Solitaires, and even the best of them aren't much of an improvement. The exception is a custom 3W mod, but it only works halfway well because it uses a non-standard 3.7V lithium ion battery.

That last mod sounds like you are using the tube of the solitaire and not much more . So the light output isn,t much more in a straight led conversion ? How about longevity ? Surely the battery must last longer ?
