Recommendation? Is this 4116 or D2?

MODS: This is not a deal-spotting post--I'm trying to see if the steel is correctly identified.

This tanto Leatherneck is supposedly 4116. I trust CS's Taiwanese contractors for their 4116 heat treat and would order it, but I don't want anything made of D2. How can I tell if the steel is correctly IDd here? AZCK isn't known for their correct descriptions. Thanks in advance.
 
Well the Cold Steel website currently lists the “Leatherneck Tanto“ as ”German D2”. Can’t say if this was ever offered in 4116 any time in the past.
 
Granted, but the logo dates this as well before GSM buyout, and IIRC 4116 was the initial offering steel.
