Is this a Buck 110 fake?

Hey everyone,

I mentioned a buck 110 to my father and he surprised me by giving me one. I remember him using this knife all throughout his career. The only thing is that once i got it I went to look up the year it was made. I found no buck markings and it even said CHINA on the blade! There is also jimping, which I haven't seen in other 110's. The only thing that makes me curious is that this knife is probably from the early 90's, perhaps even late 80's. Were fakes even around then? And then also if the knife is that old, bucks were only made in the u.s.a from my understanding. Regardless of if this is a buck or not, it has extreme sentimental value. That said, I would appreciate it if you guys could educate me on this knife and perhaps even if you knew where it was from. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Are there any markings on the side of the blade with the nail nick? I probably wont be know either way but this may help others.

Well, Financier, the knife is not a fake. It is a 95752 China. May be that it was made in China. It may look like a Buck, but it is not marked with Buck, so it is not a fake and not a Buck.

Is it possible the knife he gave you is not the one you remember him using 25 years ago? I know things like that have happened in my family as heirlooms get passed around.

The sentiment is good, so congrats, regardless if it's a Buck or one of the many copies made in the 70s, 80s, 90s etc.

Most weren't made as 'fakes' or counterfeits trying to pass themselves off as genuine Bucks. They were just cloning a popular and successful design.
Ka-Bar made the Model 1189 clone which is easy to mistake for a Buck 110. Other reputable companies made their own Buck 110 clones, marked with their own legitimate brand names.
Lots of unmarked no-name clones were made in Pakistan (before China lobbied their way into becoming a trade-policy-favored exporter during the '90's Clinton era) and usually only say "Pakistan", or may have no markings at all. The Pakistan versions came in all sizes, down to keychain miniatures.

Congratulations on your new to you imported Sears & Roebuck knife.

I'd say it was a Schrade...
Doubtful.
Schrade USA marked all the 7OT's with "Schrade" on the blade.
The Schrade knives made by Taylor after Schrade USA closed shop are also marked "Schrade" or what ever Schrade brand it is. (Imperial, Uncle Henry, Hammer Brand, etc.)
BTI who took over Schrade after Taylor also marks their knifes Schrade or whatever Schrade brand it is.
