Is this a Buck 110 fake?

OK, it's one of those high quality Chinese knives... I think I have a Pakistan knife that looks like that. It's in the glovebox of the truck with about 3 others, Buck included...

How nice to see an old thread get new life.

Haebbie had it right. This is a legitimate China knife that never claimed to be a Buck.

Therefore--NOT a fake.

:D

The OP took all those pictures when it was obvious from the first one that it was not a Buck.

Usually there are not enough pictures, but this old post was the exception.

I don't know.

He was one of the most knowledgeable guys here.

Maybe somebody else knows what ever happened to him?
Like many of the other folks with barrels of knowledge, he moved to Facebook. I'm not on FB so I don't know whether he's still active there or not.
Lots of folks who said they'd never FB have gone that way.
The photobucket issue will be the popular reason they abandoned bladeforums.

To be frank, I think many of you, especially the BCCi members, should join the BCCI member Facebook page. I am on both. I enjoy buying stuff and getting info on both. You are missing out on a few things. I enjoy when CJ himself makes a comment on my post, for example. But I understand if you want to eschew Facebook. There is a great group of Buck fans here as well as on Facebook and I enjoy the discussions, pictures, knowledge, etc. on both.

Facebook gets a bad rap that's unjustified.

It's a great way to keep track of what's going on with Friends and family.......plus I enjoy the pages on old duck and fish decoys, various guns and ammo and Robert C. Ruark page and a few others.

I think I'm on one with Buck Knives but I'll have to search out more, I see.

I quit BCCI because they moved primary communication to FB.
Think about it... members pay dues annually, or have a lifetime membership.
You do not need a Club membership to participate on FB.
The only tangible asset the club owns is its web site. Where does that money go? Last I checked, the club site hasn't been updated in over a decade.
So... if I pay my dues, I have an outdated website that I'm paying for, but that collectors information - a privileged resource for paying members - is freely given to non club members on FB?
When I called them out on this, the response was essentially - 'There is no room for improvement, mind your own business.'

Facebook's bad rap is a matter of perspective, and absolutely justified to those who have a beef.
Sheep dont seem to mind and find nothing wrong with the collection of information or manipulation of content.
Call someone at FB and tell them you want to advertise your product or service. You'll be amazed by how much information they collect about you, your interests, etc...

You don't pay for FB, advertisers do. The more specific the information, the more valuable it is to advertisers, for instance. But it's not just advertisers who are taking advantage of that information.
And you agree to it when you agree to the TOS.
Yeah... its totally unjustified.

I can't disagree with most of what you said. I totally understand your point of view. And I would never want to quit here because of the great experience Bladeforums is. Except on the public BCCI FB page there is no direct access to the Members Only info. They also have a private BCCI FB page, which requires your BCCI membership to be accepted, on which they allow buying, selling, and trading. The website for buying, selling, trading is not as active. I would like to see more things that I learn here and on FB archived on the model info page.

It's access to curated information by proxi proxy. For instance.... if a non-club member asks on FB for information on a particular Buck knife, is that information given freely in response, or is the response directing them to the information on the club site and suggesting a membership?

Same thing happened here regularly, but finally convinced people to respond with a taste of the information and suggest the cost of a club membership is worth every penny. I'll give information freely now because the club doesn't cover covet the information or the people who curated it like they should.

Basically by giving the information freely, they've removed any value of membership.

At least in my opinion...

Maybe I'm a violator. I tend to give information to whomever asks. As seen in this Forum, it is not always correct. :)

I'm skeptical of accounts run by companies / groups dedicated to one product/ company.
All too often negative feedback is easily moderated out to protect the brand.

I've witnessed it here by Buck's former moderator on this site. I do respect the current moderator Buck has here as that hasn't happened to my knowledge.👍

When a company or group has the ability to censor out negative feedback, then the public gets biased
information on a product.

I appreciate the positive vibe on this Buck subforum, yet I value a persons ability to give negative feedback on the company or product if they see fit.

I may not agree with it, but I value it.

Can one post negative feedback on the Buck BCCI Facebook page and not be censored out?
I think not.
Read the rules there. They prohibit it.

Yeah I'm off topic of this threads original intention, but this thread has turned this direction.

Yeah, I agree with that. I don't see why constructive criticism is not allowed or, in the least, frowned upon. I complained about a 055 BOTM I got once. I got blasted on FB by members for criticizing. But the good thing is that someone from Buck read my post and took care of the issue with alacrity.

I agree with this, but will add that this forum and the club space are two different avenues that get treated as such. Consider Bladeforums a "public place" where all comments, unless outright lies should remain. You could argue that Buck pays for this forum does something that allows them to exhibit some control on this particular sub-forum which makes it private, but we pay for this site's operation with our paid membership levels so we own it too, right? The club space is owned and operated by the club and I feel the owner should have absolute say in what content remains. Liken it to someone spray painting they don't like you on the front of your house - are you going to leave it, or remove it? Now if they spray paint it on public property, there's not much you can say about it.

I think Matt's doing a terrific job here. He's usually pretty quick to respond, but even when he's not, he's always eager to try to make folks happy whether their complaints are legit or BS. Well done!
