Is this a Busse?

Definitely a great score
+1 for dish soap and a toothbrush on Micarta. I'll even sprinkle a little Comet or Ajax in the mix. It removes all grime and leaves that natural faded look.

As everyone else has stated it is a Busse, great find. Congrats.

Can you get a better pic of the blade (without glare), the reason I ask is it is hard to tell if it is satin finish or coated. It looks like from the pic that it is coated white, which would be unusual since it also has snakeskin scales. That combo just would have been unusual from the shop. Another oddity is that if it isn't coated it almost looks like it is full flat ground. There are only three (from the original custom shop ones) that I know of that were full flat ground from the shop and they all have logo's. There are some that were full flat ground on the after market (and thereby don't have logo's).
A better pic would be helpful determining what you have as far as a collectible.

I hadn't noticed the grind before but your right Eric! It does kind of look full flat, but the glare is just too complete for me to tell from here. I can try to run the picture through Photoshop this after noon but the results might not be good.

I did a run through Photoshop and well, not much info in the picture itself to get data from, here's the best I could get, and yea it looks like a full flat grind. :) The blade is so washed out that I'm still not sure if its coated or not. As said before It might be a regrind starting with the saber ground original.

I know that Gundy had one reground on the secondary market to make it full flat grind. No way to tell if this is one of those or not. Just not enough info at this time.
:D:D

Mine looks just like yours, u812. But the hole for the lanyard is different. It has a step down in the hole. Both holes have the step down in the hole. If that makes sense???? If I may How much do you think it is worth? If I can ask that.

No, you cannot ask that as a registered user, but I did send you some criteria to grade and help me to help you. I haven't heard back.

That is an awesome find  Active Duties are beautiful little knives, and the snakeskin handle is a favorite of many HOGs!

That is a heck of a find. Like others have stated, without better pics it is hard to give more info. Still a great blade. COngrats

There are a few out there that were reground or "touched" over, it does look very familiar, I had two identical knives from Busse and had a local knife-maker regrind both for a thinner profile: all cold grinding mind you, so nil damage to the original heat treat. One saw kitchen use only and it was a super slicer! They were both bead blasted with a very fine grit once finished.

That plunge line looks identical to the ones I had. Without handling it, I would say it is one of them. Dwayne's "BAD ASS" sheath was derived back around that time too.:). Man, that was a night full of whiskey!

Do you remember what the BAD ASS accro stood for Leatherman? :)

"Busse Active Duty - ......... Xxx......

Sure do! Busse Active Duty Advanced Sheathing System. :D Its a Gundy original design.

I remember that first one well, and all the incarnations since, its evolved so much since then. I have one of the originals in my shop. :)

Awesome knife & sheath. Ive got one of those first snake AD's thx to a uber giving hog! USE IT & LOVE IT!
ps, as U812 mentioned, wash with dishsoap and the colors will come out best. Adding oil will only darken.
