I've been fooling with different carry options on the RC-4. Unfortunately, I don't have the molle back with my knife. It feels pretty good with the para-cord stringed as belt loop, but access to the handle just feels awkward having to reach high above the belt line.
What really feels good to me is to carry it on the belt, para-cord style, but in the position of tip up, handle down. I find the handle just falls within natural reach of my hand and is really intuitive and comfy to withdraw. The knife seems completely unobtrusive when carried this way in standing and sitting positions.
My question is am I tempting fate by carrying it this way?
A side note here....
I've used the retention screws and bolted them tight to maximize the lock. I did have to go with the spacer-retention screws and added them to each side of the sheath in the top row. I do notice I get tighter lock with the spacer retention screws than I did with the single, non-spacer one.
Also I lost my non-spacer screw in the field. It was my fault as I had it eased off for a light touch release, handle up carry during this time. Unfortunately, I all of a sudden noticed it became really easy to withdraw after the screw popped off. I ended up wrapping a couple lengths of extra paracord in the field just to keep the sheath a bit more secure. Now I keep the two spacer-screws in place, so I have a replacement screw if it ever happens again. My only reason for this little side note is to remind people to tighten that little baby and keep a back-up screw cause you might need it in the field!
