Is this a good liquid nitrogen dewer?

Uh, you may want to check that shipping price.

Also, the opening on that is the typical 50mm. 1.96"

I have this one and it holds LN for over 60 days. Considering it costs me $20 to fill it I'm satisfied with that.

Lol. Good catch. I haven't had my coffee yet.

Is it possible to pore into a cooler for larger items or just find a bigger dewer?

May be a dumb question but jow do you get your LN filled?

I go to the welding supply store, pay for it, and they send me to the plant a few miles away and they fill it there. It’s a bit of a run around for me, but I live in the boonies. Takes about 4h round trip, and about $125.00cdn for 20l.

Airgas is right around the corner from me and they sell LN. Not sure about ESSI, the welding supply place where I get my 100 pound propane tank filled. It is about as close.

Have you guys found any dewars with larger necks, at a good price? I'm renting my dewar as of now, and it's not very cost effective. But it has a 2.5 inch neck which is nice.

Does that one also have the 50mm opening? And how long of a knife can you use in it?

No I quit looking as the majority of my work that needs cryo fits a 2".

Yes, 50mm. I forget exactly but around 14". Maybe longer if you let the plug hang out part way.

I have browsed a few times and it appears that if you want the BIG mouth AND a lot of length, you have to go for the 30-35 liter models.

As a coincidece, I had the same dewar kuraki linked to arrive today. It seems well made. I only have one question-how tight are the plugs supposed to be? The one I just bought seems pretty loose. Everything else seems rather solid.

Thanks

Is that 570mm listed on the ebay dewar the total height of the dewar, or the depth of the interior? If its 22+ inches it can fit inside im sold on it. Killer price if your gettin 2 months per fill

So I just measured the one I got yesterday. Yes the total height is 22” but the useful height is more like 10”. A tape measure reaching straight down only goes down 18.75” from the top of the plug to the bottom. There is a tube at the top that the styrofoam cup lug fits in that is 8.75” tall so there is a maximum of 10” that could have ln2 in it. This will still do what I need and will send out any very large blades for heat treat anyway.
