I love my pm2 and i have 2 for that reason. I came across a guy on instagram that wants to trade his titanium millitary for my pm2 and my tenacious. Oppinions?

So a person on instagram would like to give me his titanium millitary for my black on black pm2 and tenacious. What do you guys think?

I would advise doing a search of that person's name on the forums her to see if they show up at all. If they do, then find out what their reputation is like.

You are the only person to determine if the trade is an equal trade or not, all anybody here can do is offer opinions. Since I don't know your attachments to your knives I really can't even offer that. Just be cautious that you actually are trading with a good person first, and that you have something to fall back on if the other guy flakes.

Do NOT do a deal with someone you do not know in a system with no 'checks & balances'.
If you want to sell your knives or buy a specific knife, use the appropriate forums here at BF where there is a system of 'checks & balances'. The vast majority of knife deals here at BF go smoothly.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Instagram? I don't know him. If the deal goes bad, you have no recourse.

Trades are much more complicated, in general, then just purchasing something.

At least when you make a purchase online, you are using a method (PP/CC) that offers you a form of recourse if things go wrong.

When you make a trade within a community (BF) you at least have the opportunity to see how that person carries themselves in this environmemt, and you can also ask other members for some feedback on the individual.

That's all the advice I have.
As far as whether you should trust someone in general, that's something we all do case by case based on various intuitive things we've learned in life.

Most here I would guess spend more time on BladeForums than Instagram. You're probably asking the wrong crowd. Ask on Instagram, search the guy's name and user name in Google. Read his posts in Instagram.

In my opinion you're better off doing knife transactions here but obviously I'm biased. [emoji274]

I think trading in general should be based on retail value. Adjust down for condition issues, current production and other intangibles. Adjust up for out of or limited production and other intangibles (such as really liking your knife). What do the numbers say after that and then make you're decision.

To me its no safer then trading on here. All you have here is a basic feedback feature but someone who hasn't had sales or trades and has no feedback is just a basic account no different then Instagram accounts.

This site is like my gaming site, as all the staff do is facilitate and host the site for sales or trades. They don't go handling your disputes or refund people scammed by its users.

Whether you did a trade or sale on this site or Instagram your safety net is paying with paypal and not a money order, check, or cash. That is the only way to have recourse.

From reading the feedback section its not like people don't get scammed or ripped off on here either.

True, but the number of deals that go bad is very small relative to the number of deals that go perfectly. If you look at deals between BF members who already have positive FB, the chance of a rip-off is extremely low.
BF is a safe place to do knife deals as long as you are sensible. If you deal with a new member with zero FB then you are not being sensible and you might encounter problems.

BF is a much tighter community than Instagram. Between the rules, the mods, and the "self-policing" we do on BF, you're a bit safer trading here than in a setting like Instagram. Whether or not the actual trade value is worth it is up to you. Depends on how bad you want a Ti Millie compared to how much you want your second PM2. You're the only one who can answer that.

Personally, I would mistrust the setting (Instagram) enough to walk away from the deal, but that's just me.

simply look at the knives involved, that is clearly your answer. Unless the Ti millie is trashed, it far out classes the pm2 and the tenacious, and therein is your RED FLAG. Put instascam on top of that and it's real simple. Trading knives is tough enough, best stick to a place only found here. Where feedback exist and members do care what gets said about them. Even here "fair" is a matter of opinion.

Go with your gut feeling and weigh the love you have for your PM2. If you do the trade and if your budget is tight and you can afford to lose one of your PM2's if the deal goes south, then you're stuck.

Needler420, what you posted^^^^ is so ignorant, I just slipped into a coma for a few minutes.

How dare you attack the people that buy, sell, trade on this site. There is recourse when doing business here in the form of a member vouching for another member.
If you so chose, you can look up someone's activity and find out where they hang the most. From someone's activity, you can determine if they're a flipper or a contributing member.
In case you didn't know, and it obvious from your post, you can look in GB&U to see what's been posted about folks dealings with each other.
When a deal is not resolved here on BFC, someone gets banned, and oh by the way, that's what the mods do. The mods get more involved than some folks want.

What I see here more than anything else is deals from other places being discussed here and help being sought to gain recourse for their bad deals. Imagine that, and yet you say this place is like your gaming site, PLEASE

This is 100% spot on. The difference between BFC and instascam is night and day. To think otherwise is just plain silly.

And to answer the OP....No.
