First Need Deluxe Water Purifier. I'm just wondering how good it is since it doesn't use chemicals at all. Anyone have any exp. with it?

Its pretty good the membrane gets rid of all the nasty stuff. But to be on the safe side I would drop in a couple of chlorine tabs or boild it. Just to kill off any bugs that might have gotten by.

I've had a First Need Deluxe for about 6 years - never had a problem, you can back flush the filter & prolong filter life quite abit. Easy to use, pretty easy on the arms as far as pumping. I can usually filter 4-5 liters in less than 10 minutes.

I have had one for 10+yrs It works, thats all I'll say for it!
You Must use a pre-filter. It is a pain to back flush/clean in the field. you need to have a clean water supply it flush with.
at least have some treated water!
I have a problem with the intake hose collapsing when I use the filter for any amount of water. it works fine the 1st few liters though. When hiking I find that I need to filter about 1 1/2gal-2 1/2 gal per day for 1 or 2 persons for drinking and cooking. we use more water than this but alot is boiled for cooking. count on using your filter at least this much. Frediver<><

Thanks guys. Found a very good deal on the thing but wanted to be sure of its quality before I bit.

I have one but have not compared with others. Equipped to Survive (one of the first websites I bumped into) highly recommended it over all others. Surprisingly, not many use it. So I started having doubts. Have not used a lot but besides size I am happy with it and its features.
Good question, would love to hear from more who are using it.
