Is this a legitimate sebenza?

EDIT: I strongly believe this is a fake.

Looks legit to me. The fakes have certain styling and hardware cues to watch for that I don't see that on this. The only things alerting me are that the clip screw almost looks like a torx but that could just be the picture, the machining gap between the frame and lock bar looks thinner than mine (I only have smalls though), and the lanyard pin machining doesn't seem to have the little "volcano" but that could also just be the picture. I'm also not as familiar with the older 21's as am the more late model ones so if there's any other differences maybe someone else can chime in too.

Some of the fakes on eBay look extremely close. For many the blade grind is the only way I can tell.

At first glance I thought not legit and now I’m unsure. If it were me I’d pass unless provided better photos.

Often for me the telltale sign is the handle chamfering, handle finish, and good pics of the blade open. That pic has a shadow over the blade. To my eye it’s close, but what do I know?

A lot of paperwork, but no birth card, curious. What year is it supposed to be ?

Fella doesn't know. He received it in trade. I suppose since it says 21th (?) Anniversary on the sticker i would surmise it was made as an anniversary knife for the sebenza 21. So, maybe 2005?

I would pass. Photos aren't that great, so I can't see much detail on knife (can't tell if those are torx screws or just low resolution photo), but the box, paperwork, graphics are not what what I have seen. But then again, anything that's celebrated its 21th anniversary HAS to be real!

This one's really throwing me off. The blade shape looks like the real deal as the profiles on the fakes tend to be shit, especially the tantos. But there's other details the pics are obscuring that makes it hard to confirm.

I'm withdrawing this statement.

I knew there was something bothering me about that grind though. And I think this confirms it. Mine is on the right (a real one). Look how the grind is overlapped by the scale, whereas in the one you're looking at on the left, the grind drops pretty much straight down from the thumbstud. No overlap from the scale.

Now here's the nail in the coffin. I'd hate to link to these asshats but it's for the benefit of the community. Look at the knife in this listing for a 110% fake. It matches your pics in every way; the grind, the incorrect lanyard pin machining, the lanyard (with I originally gave the benefit of the doubt of being tied on by someone later), the double thumbstuds, and even the box. These fakes are getting good.

RUN, DON'T WALK, FROM THIS DEAL.

I was on my phone earlier when the pics were harder to tell. Now that I'm at home looking on my computer, it's much clearer. I'm definitely seeing torx screws.

He was charging 300, but removed the listing after I told him it's a fake. Said he was going after the fella who traded it to him. Confirmed no date on the inside of the scales.

Dang, those pictures would have fooled me. The low res obscured torx and I don’t know tantos and would have missed the grind. I thought the leather slip was odd, not typically included with plain handle models. The box and materials seemed a little odd too but not enough for me know it was fake. They are getting good.

I'm not an expert in older CRKs
But I'm expert in photography and internet trade :^)
First time view - bell rings seeing all additions as box, papers, stickers etc
Second view - big bell toll - quality of pictures are for exact purpose !!!
Run like F5 tornado ...

Just silly example how ordinary picture of Sebenza taken with ordinary P&S camera should looks !

I think that’s an excellent point. Poor quality pictures probably take more effort than good ones these days.

I don’t believe the story that he was duped in a trade.
