Is this a new model Spyderco?

Big knaf. I was hoping to have mine this week but the weather seems to have delayed the post office and the holiday on Monday.

I would suggest this is a collectors knife based on what I've seen thus far. And I'm a big fan of the designer.

Got mine today. F&F is on point, no stick, detent how it should be. The orange is nice but as suspected gets too dirty too quick which is a pet peeve. Gonna try the rit dye approach to just get it dark.
I would post a pic but I don't know how to post an instagram pic from my phone. Will do that later when I am home.

I’m interested in the Subvert but I’ve heard a few times that the detent is on the weak side. I like a strong detent.

Probably not really a ding against it, though, I mean, that'll happen with any light G10 color.

For sure. I like Orange in general but I also have filthy grimey fingers at work 80% of the time, so any bright color gets dirty fast. The 0562 scale looks just dirty, the Subvert is a bit more polished and has some light pattern visible so it holds up a bit better.

Has anyone found this blade shape to be good for practical use? Or does anyone believe it would be? I like it aesthetically but I'm unsure whether I would ever use it.

I'm hoping someone will make aftermarket scales. A custom knife maker ready made a set in micarta for a customer for this model. And it looks amazing. That or carbon fiber should be very cool.

Here's the Nati Amor a.k.a. Black Snow Customs "Sabotage" that it was based on:

it based on Blacksnow custom "Sabotage" ,
I dont see any similarity with norsman .

Handled one at my local gun/knife shop.

I like larger folders w/long blades but it's a no-go for me just on the color and price. Would have helped if the scale was gray like the Sabotage or simply black, which is the color I prefer on all of my Spyders. The knife is also heavy in the hand and thick in the pocket; not something most people would want to carry as an EDC or even necessarily on occasion.

It was asked above but allow me to ask it again. Does anyone understand the purpose of the blade shape? That also put me off but not as much as the color and price.

On a fixed blade it might make a good machete/chopper thing. On a folding knife...I really don’t like the extremely obtuse point at the tip. I have the same issue with my Lionspy, there is virtually no tip.

That just makes me never use the knife. Then ontop of that this thing is an absolute brick. I guess I don’t see it as much more than a fancy toy. So then if I am buying an art knife why buy a production knife?

I do see why the design is kind of cool but I think it is a poor design for a practical folding knife.

Wonder if putting a wax pattern on before dipping could seal some areas for effect? Not sure just had a spark. Does the dye have to be hot when dipping?

I think it's a really cool knife, for the same reasons you do, but I would never use it, as I don't have a routine need for a pocket sword.

. . . I don't have a routine need for a pocket sword.

Neither do I but who ever heard of a sword w/a blunt tip?

FWIW, there's already the Tatanka at 5.05" (or even the Police at 4.42") that you could use as a pseudo-sword and still buy for a fraction of the price of the Subvert, which actually have pointy tips like a sword.

LOL! ;)

I know it's done but why the heck would you buy a $306 knife (MAP price) and then do something like THAT to it? Your money, your choice -- but it just boggles my mind. Whatever . . .

Are you referring to the wax idea or changing/dyeing the scales?
If it is the latter, same reason you buy a 180,000 $ car and put 20k rims or a 10k wrap on it.
Aesthetics. Personally I dig the knife but orange is a bit too impractical for me. So I will just try and darken it. Dye costs me 15 bucks (Green and Black) while custom scales would be 80$+.
If dark green wont work I will use black, its an economical way to make it right. I get where you are coming from though, an expensive knife should ideally be just right out of the box.
I did consider waiting for a Sprint Run but I strongly suspect it will be less appealing in a different way (For example coated blade, or stonewashed) changing scale color is easier than refinishing a blade to me.
Just my two cents on my reasoning.

It's a art knife. No real world use. I'll probably never carry it. I'll see how it is cutting card board.

Most definitely not designed to be a hard user, go look at The Blacksnow customs. They’re art knives through and through.

Still badass, but I think you’re kind of missing the point if you question the utility of the design. It’s supposed to look cool and unique.

Just my .02
