Is this a problem?

Well this shows my age, 55 years plus of hanging tools and I'd didn't know about these new fangled chemicals. Thanks for up date. Regardless, still like to use linseed oil to keep handles from drying out.
 
You can just hold the head of the axe and bang the butt of the haft downwards on the ground to tighten it back up when it gets loose like that.
