surely some academic has studied (and published) what conditions are optimal for knife storage ? but i can't find anything on this topic.
it is a balancing act; steel needs dry; natural handle materials do best with some (but how much ??) humidity. and of course optimum may vary with differing steels, as some can tolerate humid air better than others.
maybe there's a PhD thesis here for someone in "curator studies". roland
