Is this an Endura 3 or 4?

Hello; I am relatively new to Spyderco folders, and I just ordered a waved Endura with grey FRN after getting two Natives I was really impressed with. I did a little searching here about Enduras after my purchase and see "3" and "4" being used alot. One seems to be liked a bit more than the other, so can anyone tell me which one this is and what the differences are other than the blade shape? Thanks

That's a 4th generation model. It has steel liners and the clip is held on with 3 screws. The 3rd generation models don't have steel liners and the clip is held on with a barrel bolt.

I also believe that the 3rd generations were hollow ground as where the 4th gens are saber ground. The 4th gens also have a thicker tip to prevent the chance of the tip from breaking. It won't penetrate as smoothly as the 3rd gens, but it's a lot tougher. I prefer the 4th gens overall. The handles are slightly different as well.

And the last difference the three is pinned together, the 4 is screwed together (so you can take it apart...for better or for worse).

One more last difference :) pretty difficult to say, but IMO the handle color is different; Endura 3 waved is a very dark grey and Endura 4 waved is dark grey.

I agree, they are slightly different shades. I thought he just wanted differences between Endura 3 vs Endura 4 in general and not specifically the Waved Endura.

Another difference between and E3 and E4 Wave is that the E3 is a "Dealer" requested Sprint of 500, while the E4 is a regular production model that will sell for as long as there are sufficient buyers...

Wow thanks for all the answers guys! I'm glad I can take it apart to clean if necessary. I think Spyderco is my new favorite knife company, and I think a D'allara will be my next purchase. That new Citadel will be mine once they are available- soon I hope.
