Is this an LB3?

I've never seen an LB3 in person, so I need some help. This knife supposedly came out of the sample room at Schrade and is just shy of 3" long when closed. There is no tang stamp or any other marking on the knife. The person who sold this knife had 2 others that were similarly engraved which I was not able to buy. One appeared to be an LB5 and the other was probably an LB7.

It does not look like mine, different shape and size bolsters, different placing of rear handle pin...

I have seen some Buck 110's that came from that same sample room. The samplemakers kept some of the competions knives on hand to see what they were doing and how they did it. You might try the Buck or Camillus forums to see if someone recognizes it. I don't.

Could be an R&D ( research and development dept ) or out of the custom shop I have seen similar protos and seconds I say it could very well be a Schrade but without any info it is only a guess. Wood looks familiar and so do the bolsters. Distinctive blade grind is right on. LT

Interesting, this is a pic of the 4" knife. It also has a modified blade from the usual LB series and there is no tang stamp or marking on this one either. This photo is from the listing and the engraving doesn't show in great detail:

This is a pic of the 5" knife and it's obviously a variation of the LB7. Notice the similarity in the engraving to the one I bought:

They look like custom shop samples shown to prospective buyers as possible items for purchase. I may be completly wrong. Only an opinion. LT

The knife I bought and first pictured is a very well made and interesting one. Even under magnification, there is no evidence of the tang being ground to remove any stamp. That means to me that it was removed from production somewhere before it was stamped. All 4 bolsters are fully engraved and appear to be the same style of engraving as on the SCM7. If this was made as a fake, the person who made it lost his azz, I only paid $26.25 for it.

Im going to guess this is an Imperial. Based on the shape of the handle, bolsters and blade shape. Look for a Frontier 4515. Whomever made it sure did a nice job customizing it. It may be a forunner of the SCM's. I have a 4515 that has no tang stamp so a few of these got out of the factory.
Great little lockback.

Im gonna retract that guess. The front bolsters are not the same.. The Frontiers look more like the 2nd blade except the frontier blades are flat ground.
I'll put up a set of picts tonight of the LB and Frontier series.
Phil, LT could either of you post a pict of the smaller Frontier 4715?
Thanks

You guys are GOOD. So is the Sears knife a Schrade or an Imperial?

Odds are that the little one is of the same genre, except I can't find a photo of an Imperial that matches it.

Sorry to be late you wanted a pic of a frontier. Here are a few I did not attempt to take these cases down so the pics are not great but perhapes it will help a little. LT

I think I found it except the blade shape doesn't look like a perfect match. The frame is the exact same size and the bolsters are the same shape.

Here's mine again:

And here's the Imperial Frontier version:

Not the same blade shape, nail nick placement, or easy open cutout. Looks very close to the "No Tang" knife in Larry's pictures, but the choil doesn't look the same. JMO.
Still, a cool knife.
