Is this burner safe for a small forge?

I have a pile of soft firebricks, an old Vulcan anvil, a big hammer, some 1084 bars, and a hankering to try hammering hot steel...but with a limited budget the only burner I can come up with is the venturi out of my old turkey fryer. Is this safe to use? Does it require a screen to prevent a flashback into the tube? Does it have a prayer of generating enough heat for a small (as in 1 brick high, 2 bricks long, and maybe 2" wide) forge? The regulator says the outlet pressure is 50 PSI...but the tube is pretty small compared to what I see you guys running in pics of your forges.

Do yourself a favor and get a gauge to go on that regulator. it will fit where the Allen screw is and will show you out put pressure. should work try it.

Let us know if that Turkey burner works please. I have one left over from my homebrewing days, and I never thought of adapting it to a forge. They sure make heat and sound like a small jet engine!
