Is This G-10 or Micarta?

I got my pretty new Badger Attack in today. I ordered (or thought I ordered)the urban gray blade with black magnum micarta scales. But usually black micarta in not so black. Are these G-10 scales? I like it fine. I'm just wondering.

Do you think those slabs are mags or regular. Looks like the regular to me but cannot really tell from the picture. Do you know how thick the handle is?

The Handle is just under 5/8" thick. The scales are about 3/16" thick. Whatever they are, they fit my large hands well.

The sun is up, so I tried to get some better pictures of the handle. There is some grain, but I think these are G10.

G-10, standard.

The knife is a Beauty! Great looking combo.

Well, if these are standard G-10 and not black magnum micarta, then I got the wrong handles. But the handles feel fine to me, so I guess I didn't need magnums after all. Besides, it looks even better than I though it would. This is the combo I should have ordered anyway!
Thanks for the ID, Ken.

The G-10 upgrade was about the same price as the Mag. micarta upgrade.
A Mag G-10 would be even higher. So you did get your money's worth anyway.

My two standard grips measure the same as yours. I was told by Garth the Mags would only be a very slight diff on this knife... so I stuck with the Reg.

The G-10 is tough as you can get and you seem to like how it fits you.
But If you think you would have liked the Micarta Mags better don't use the knife yet and give the shop a call. Bet they could swap it for what you ordered if you wanted, Busse is top notch in that regard. Sounds like your real satisfied though.

Again, that is one awesome combo.... makes me wish I had got one just like it. Glad you like it !!!

I like it just fine, mistake or not. I'm keeping this little beauty!

I have the regular g-10 slabs. At its thickest point the handle is about 2/3" and the blade is .197". It's very hard to measure the handle because it is so ribbed. In any case congratulations on an exellent combo and a great knife.

Those are clearly G10. They match the ones on my Frosted Jack variant.

Hey Rick,

Did those grips come on that S&W, or did you put them on aftermarket?

I have a 686 with the rubber grips, and I was thinking of putting some wood on it.

They came with it, but I bought second-hand. They are Hogues, which I generally like, but the round butt design (the 627 is RB) isn't as clean as the square in the way it deals with the backstrap. Spegel's are great and I am enjoying a set of Ahrends' also.

Rick
