Is this going to hurt the heat treatment?

If it were INFI, I wouldn't worry about it, but Elmax....

Carolina Reapers.

I wore gloves cutting them up, but not while I was washing the knife. My fingers are still burning a little.

Nice reaper's, and elmax. Love the fruity flavor of them.

My Borg 9's were hotter last year. Getting ready to put my super hot's in the ground Sunday. Did you grow them?

Pretty combo.

I trust you're not cutting on that granite?

I did it free-hand. I just cut them in half, harvested some of the seeds, and dropped the halves in a jar of vinegar to preserve them until I have enough to make a batch of hot sauce.

Elmax isn't infi? ??

It's not. As I understand it, INFI is tougher, but Elmax has better edge retention and better corrosion resistance, which is probably why Busse picked it for small slicey knives like the steak knives. There's a discussion of it here.

I ate some jerky today made with Carolina Reaper peppers. It was too hot to be really enjoyable. It tasted great. But hurt for about 15 minutes. Then a few minutes later, I forgot the pain, and ate another piece. Again, there was regret for about 15 minutes or so.

There is a lot of debate about who has the hottest. Not sure how many of ya'll grow....pepper's. Anyone up for a grow off?

We have one every year on another pepper forum. Still working on the best taste, and hot.lol

Pic's later.

There may be a heavy hitter coming out of cajun country soon.

I gotta say, I'm a little confused by this pursuit for extreme high heat. Flavor is one thing, but death by pepper? LOL, why!? o_O
Nice knife though and great pic!

lol Unless you're highly allergic to a pepper, death is not going to result from eating it in normal amounts. The quest for the hottest has a lot to do with medicinal purposes. The higher capsaicin content per pepper, the fewer peppers needed to extract the amount of capsaicin desired.

There was a study done on rats that showed how much capsaicin would kill a person per lb of body weight. From what I remember, its somewhere equal to 24 Carolina Reapers eaten in a very short period of time for an average sized adult male.

After 2 reapers, I was in too much pain to even think about putting anything else in my mouth other than the gallon of cold milk I was cycling from the jug to my mouth, to the sink.

You're more likely to die from anaphylaxis from eating peanuts than a hot pepper.

As far as I know the Reaper still holds the title as the others haven't been officially tested, or tested lower than originally anticipated. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I haven't even had a Carolina Reaper I prefer to avoid turning my backside into a fiery volcano of vengeance but I have heard they do have a good sweet flavor give me a taste of heat with a great flavor and I am happy.
