Shouldn't hurt the heat treat. It may, however, affect the tension of your O ring.

Or even worse might have to get that O ring replaced lol. After eating too many of those a replacement might be in order.

No replacement needed...my father in law just had to get rebored...he's running .0040 over now-- really opened him up.
