Personally I don't like serrations. To be honest, I would never buy a combo blade. Also I prefer liner- and frame-locks. 154CM is nice though, especially compared to the mystery steel Gerber normally uses. But 33 USD (2100 INR) is a good deal for 154CM.

Link came up Gerber Gator with 420HC for me. It might have been a typo on the webpage if it said 154cm at one time. I have never used that website/company and I'm not the biggest fan of Gerber. Since you are in India, not sure what options you have, sorry.

Welcome to Bladeforums. Please do not post links to webstores that are not supporting members.
The Gerber Gator knife is a very nice knife, if that is the one you are referring to. It was made for a time with 154CM and it appears that it is now being made with a different steel.

I see 420HC as well. Whether or not a Gerber will work for you comes down to your needs in my opinion.

If you will only use it occasionally and lightly, any sharp blade will work and a Gerber is just fine if you like the design and the price is good.

However, if you plan on hard use or using it often I would suggest Gerber is not really the quality you may need. If frequent use is in your plans I would suggest choosing a blade made from 154cm or better and buy it from a company that holds tight tolerances. I have not found Gerber to be that company. I would look to Spyderco or maybe Kershaw to find something at a similar price point (albeit a little higher) but of higher quality.

sorry i thought the recommendations thread will work with links and members will also have exposure to these kind of offers

You're welcome. If the steel is 420, than I would definitely advise you to buy a Victorinox or an Ontario RAT Model 1 instead.
