Antonio Luiz - plenty of those thin machetes are like 2-2,5mm thick.
So a 2mm thick leaf spring cleaned only a lil bit would be still 2mm.
If i can find a 3mm thick only , i would grind that to 2mm and polish the whole blade ( a polished surface is much more corrosion resistant).
