is this mike turder ripping off Rob or what?

I don't like to pass judgement without all of the facts before me, but this acution definitely raises a few questions that I'm sure all of us would like to be answered. Did MTech just "relabel" the Simonich design, or what? Mike, are you there?

That is about as low as a human can go. What a disgusting sight seeing someone stealing one of Rob's designs NOW.

This is Bad and sad..................

I remember that this was one of the original Boss designs, basically Rob signed on and designed this for BOSS but then Mtech stole all the designs and got them produced in china before Mike could stop them. I was kinda looking forward to this knife when it was first announced because it was going to be legit and even Rob said he was impressed with the little prototype that he checked out, but then everything that could go wrong did and mtech is stealing everybodys work.

Mike has nothing to do with MTech. In fact, I think he is winding down his knife business and may be out of it completely by now. He was selling of all his stock, moving to another state and going to be selling only his scooters.

Host and Parasite were knives that Rob designed for Boss Knives. The design was stolen by MTech, not Mike.

I remember this knifes mention and photoshop when the whole Boss deal started. The really sad thing is this knife was never mentioned before now and I have a feeling that this one went from paper to ebay in a weeks time b/c of the recent tragic event:( :barf:

That is really sad, but I don't think it is Mikes doing. From the sounds of it, Boss was working with Rob to bring these to market, and then MTech basically stole the design and produced them without permission. Dispicable!

Not exactly. Before it all went into the infinite hell hole, Mike had the company in China that MTech deals with make his Cheetahs. Which means he probably showed them some of the BOSS designs. I could be wrong, so I"ll just wait for Mike to come in and clarify the issue.

The Irony here is that Mike was trying to change how business is done in china with BOSS. Mtech stole the designs, and proved that not one thing changed about business in china.--Joe

Whether this is a rip-off or slurs the image of Mr. Simonich, we can stop the practice right now.

Refuse to buy the junk.

It does a number of things. No matter how cheap a distributor can market them, it does no good if the inventory sits, even if some of it moves (the number of 'turns.')

It seems the Chinese will build anything (or replicate anything) for hard currency. If the profits of the knife industry dry up, they'll turn to replicating Maytag washing machines.

No one is forcing this crap down our throats. Refuse to buy and educate the fish.

This is not just limited to the Chinese business culture, but rather is very pervasive throughout the Far East.

Agreed... I wouldn't limit it to just China. (I think my bias is leaking.)

Ever seen a knocked-off S-Class?

Freaky.

Damn freaky.

Re the chinese angle on this thread. It is not only the chinese but the entrepenuers that saction the imports. Of course it is a catch 22 situation because the chinese have produced some nice stuff and made it affordable to the knife buying public. Many US companies are able to put affordable knives on the shelf eg ka-bar and S&W. Here in Oz we suffer both ends of the chinese spectrum the real crap and the copies of the good stuff. Problem is sometimes the chinese copy is better then the original.

savier,

you can't tell it from the real thing. basically it's an inside job -- workers in the factory assemble them from parts and it never gets in their system and it ends up being really cheap.

try getting service from a real benz dealer and it doesn't work.

... or so i'm told. *shrug*

Biogon,

There are lots of urban legends about replicated Chinese products.

My favorite is the 'Chinese 707.'

In that legend, the Chinese get the plans for a Boeing 707. They do not have all of the modern materials, and use substitutes where ever needed.

It seems that there was so much steel substituted for aluminum, and so much lead used to solder the wiring, that the Chinese 707 could not get airborne.

"Attention, passengers, this is your pilot Chin Lee, welcome to Peking Airlines. We will be flying at an altitude of four feet today. If you look up and out your starboard windows you will see a step ladder..."

I know, we shouldn't laugh, but I keep thinking about the solid steel airplane. If they did build it, I wonder where they hid it?
