Is this normal for a cheap Mora?

Hello, this is my first post here, I hope I’m posting in the right category.

I purchased a Mora 546 and it came with what to me seems like an obvious defect in the blade.

Is this normal for these? Should I return and look for another?

Thank you

I also picked this up from another vendor, it’s either I’m the unluckiest person or this is common on these. What can one expect for 5 euros?

I have those on several of my Moras. It's just a normal rolling defect from the original bar stock.
They do minimal cleanup on their stock, so dents show though. Shouldn't affect useage at all.
This is a rather clean looking piece of steel in my experience, it's not perfect:

Edit:
As mentioned below, the steel comes on a roll. Note the ones on the bottom sitting on the concrete:

Stonewash the knife and cover up the dent. Not too sure how a stonewash will look on a Mora, though.

None of my five Moras have this problem. On some of their cheaper models, they do not clean up the blade all the way, leaving for example an unfinished spine on my whittling knives. That's fine. It's a good knife, man. It'll be no problem, not defective steel.

It's close but not exactly bar stock, they use rolls with steel material that they stamp the blades from.

Wow, that was a cool video. Thanks for sharing that. I like how they recycle the chromium from the grinding water.

Skip the 546 in favor of a 511, same knife with carbon steel instead of stainless. I have never seen a dent like that on any of my dozen-odd Moras, but a dent in a carbon blade will soon be lost in the patina.

Don't worry about it. I just looked at 1/2 a dozen ones closely I've hard used for decades most have them. It's a non issue.

As mentioned, it happens sometimes. I remember one of mine having it too - I think it is a Bahco branded one.
You need to decide if it bothers you or not, as you will be the one looking at this blemish and either be OK with it or regret not having it replaced.

I’ve only had 3 Mora’s, one carbon, two stainless. The carbon came “new” from dealer covered in rust and pitted in two or three places. One of the stainless had a similar dent as yours and one did not. All three worked perfectly fine regardless. It’s cosmetic.
