ok, this is hard to explain. i have a leatherman blast but upon opening the pliers to all-most fully opened it has some resistance so i looked at the back of the plier head when closed and saw that the little "track" rubs against the metal handle and im not 100% sure if this is normal or if its a defect ????

Are these the pieces you're talking about? Because they rub on mine. And just before opening it's pretty stiff. So I'd say this is normal.

Perfectly normal. It is the mechanism that provides tension against the pliers jaws that tends to keep them open.
