is this normal ???

It is normal. Also, it appears you may have captured an image of Bigfoot.

is this normal ???

By my calculations it is completely normal.

ok, this is hard to explain. i have a leatherman blast but upon opening the pliers to all-most fully opened it has some resistance so i looked at the back of the plier head when closed and saw that the little "track" rubs against the metal handle and im not 100% sure if this is normal or if its a defect ????

I have three Leathermans....all do it.

leatherman question: my leatherman blast's plier joints rub against the handle when opening and closing is that suppose to happen ? these are the points that rub together... also the steel is very slightly bent because of the rubbing. the arrow on the left is were is a bit bent ...

victorinox question: is the cork screw suppose to be razor sharp (pointy)? cause mines not ...

I don't think it should be pressing hard enough to bend the back cover of the handle. Do you have a pic of your Blast that shows the bend? If it still stays open securely, then I'd just keep using it as it is. If it's preventing the pliers from staying open, contact Leatherman's warranty team, and they'll take care of you.

The corkscrews on all of my Victorinox knives are tapered, but not to a sharp point. They are all slightly rounded at the tip.

I don't have my Blast handy, but here's what the pivot area looks like on my Charge. I believe it is a similar mechanism.

This is a straight on shot of the pivot area of my Leatherman Blast. Are these the pieces you're talking about? Because they rub on mine. And just before opening it's pretty stiff. So I'd say this is normal.

ok thank you so much for your good quality picture showing its normal. clearly my picture taking skills need work !

Perfectly normal. It is the mechanism that provides tension against the pliers jaws that tends to keep them open.

Exactly. If it didn't "rub", there wouldn't be any tension, and the handles would just flop around and using them easily like regular pliers would be impossible.

This ain't rocket surgery.
