Is this normal

Evening gents. I took a risk on my first Strider SNG. Never even handled one. I am aware of the issues that some guys have had with theirs and knew that the potential for problems existed going into this whole thing.

My first impression was that the lock stick was pretty brutal but seeing that this knife was lightly used and not broken in, figured that it may just need to wear. My other impression was that the lock bar is very hard to get a thumb on. The lock bar on my knife doesn't sit proud of the opposite side G10. Is this normal with Striders?

I also think lockup is an issue.(see pictures). With a gentle sweep from closed to lockup, it looks like the knife is sitting at about 75%. With a flick of the wrist it's almost 100%. Think I should send it in?

Is the bad angle of the lockface on the knife in photo normal? No. It is not normal for a typical design from any standpoint. That's just bad design or bad construction.

Is that normal for Strider? I dunno.

I think the best part about Strider is their warranty. I think you should check it out and have a firsthand first-time experience with that as well.
Ask them on the phone or e-mail them these and tell us what they say

Lol good luck getting any service in a timely fashion. You'll need even better luck to get a response in any form. Unlike most companies with a phone number and person to speak to, strider guys are busy being tactical and hiding from customers.

No, it's not normal. Looks like you got one with the old (too small) stop pin.
Definitely send it in to Strider/MSC for repair.

Well, at least it's the newer lockup, so that helps. The SnG is a nice model; I've had more than a few. I have also dealt VERY successfully before with Strider Cust Service...which is the best anywhere.
However, you can't deal with that moving lockbar...I'd say to send it in, IF you can't SEND IT BACK to the seller.

Not sure if you have major problems or not other then not being happy with the knife
Lock stick not over unusual and usually works out-they can improve it for you. Graphite and a little exercise usually solves it.
Lock bar does sit at the same level as G10-but I have no problem opening them. Most likely your problem stems from the lock stick and the need to exert more pressure.
I don't wrist flick knives so I don't know the effect, but there may be(sounds like) a problem there.
They provide good warranty service(usually), but customer contact is not their thing and can be a bit hit or miss. They have always gotten back to me , but others have had problems. Warranty service is now being done through MSC so that is the route you should go.
I'd contact them about the lock stick(if it is excessive) and the lock travel-most likely it will be going in.
