Is this Randall knife fake?

My friend just bought this Randall and something doesn’t look right about it to me.

Is it legit or a fake?

The overall finish work doesn't add up. That finger groove model is one of my favorite from randall, I have a 14 and a 16 FG both much more well finished, I doubt randall would let something so poorly finished out the door.

To my eyes it looks legit but it also looks like someone has maybe tried refinishing it. If it was neglected and then cleaned up by an untrained person, a Randall could come to look this way. Contact Randall Knives to be sure.

You could compare it to this on full screen. Fakes often a slightly off makers mark on blade. Around 4.15.
 
It’s even missing the lanyard tube. I did just check it out in person and the logo is deeper and darker than his pic shows.

I didn’t think to take some better pics though.

Any possibility of some more photos of knife from all sides and closer? It looks fake to me too but, it would be nice to have some more photos so that we might be better acquainted w/ certain styles of fakes.

It might depend when it was made. I heard a story that when Bob Loveless upped his F&F game, everyone else had to, including Bo Randall.
 
How well finished is the exposed tang? I've never seen a randall without a lanyard tube, doesn't mean they don't exist but I had a kit randall from the 60's that had a tube however it could have been a custom handle since it was a kit. The important thing is the exposed tang and how well it fits so a pic would help.

I haven't seen it outside of Vietnam era models, but it did happen in both regular models and Solingen ones.
