the P100 rating is what you are looking for.




The 3M and North masks made of black silicone are pretty nice, a very soft fit.
I have no experience with that mask.
 
I have a 3M and an MSA with the same type of filters on both. They both work well for all materials related to knifemaking. HOWEVER, if a mask does NOT fit correctly not much else matters. Whichever you choose, make sure you have a good fit and you will be all set.
 
@mathnerdm: I apologize for hijacking your thread a little but I have a related question concerning mask as well.

I noticed that none of those masks mentioned in this forum come in different sizes. I remember in the Army, they had Small, Medium, and Large gas masks. How effective are those masks at being one-size-fit-all? The reason for my question is that I have a small face.

If you check the Safety section at the end of my standard reply, the 3M and North half masks are two of the most commonly used and they both have small, medium and large sizes/

My suggestion other than getting a certified mask that fits you well, is look for filters that cover fiberglass dust. You will be covered very well.
 
They def come in different sizes. I reciently purchaseban MSA and it didn't fit well. Come to find out it is a medium.

If anyone could use a medium, shoot me a PM.
