Is this stag?

While the provenance of the knife (and the seller) is in question, the handle isn't. Its definitely stag. Thats what nice stag is suppposed to look like. That sort of stuff you don't see a lot these days on regular production knives.

Speaking of nice looking stag, I just got this muskrat a couple days ago. Its an old Camillus Sword Brand with Sambar scales.

Ummm..I hate to rain on your picnic, but the Camillus has delrin scales. They called it "Indian Stag" delrin but it is delrin. Just wanted to post that so people know trhe difference prior to spending $$ on these. They were nice knives - a premium line introduced by Camilllus in the early 1970's.

Now, I realize that many, many people have a lot more money than I, but what would have made this knife (the eBay offering) worth > $1K to someone, even if it were original?

Is it just that the pattern is (allegedly) rare? Rare pattern combined with stag scales?

This is an honest question. I'm not questioning that some knives are worth four figures to someone, I just was wonder "why" in this case.

Yeah, but the super ultra rare stag is the elusive sambar staglon.
