Is this the correct name for this forum?

Mr. Voyles,
The few people of this forum have a very, very limited, parochial view of things. Of all things 'Schrade' in particular. One of those "can't see the forests for the trees" kinda deals.

I have examined and owned and sold a number of the new Taylor Generation Schrades. All seemed of pre-2004 quality. Some better.

I think it is time for a few core individuals in this forum to get over it, more on, take advantage of the new ownership of the Schrade name. I think the new Schrade collectors club is a move in the right direction.

I would have to disagree with you. First of all, how can you know any "core individuals in this forum", when you just joined today.Secondly, if you knew anything about this forum you would know that this topic has been hashed out here several times in the past. I guess it's whenever sale are down that we get someone who wants to tell us how great the new Schrade knives are and that we should embrace them. But the fact is that the new Schrade is nothing more than a bought name, stamped on a cheap imported product. If people are going to buy them and be happy with the way they perform, thats great for them. I think it will only add to the value of the original knives.

I have have stayed out of this as long as I can.In order to not seem too mad about this obvious advertisement I'll only make a a suggestion. Before you spend 24.99 joining this club how about spending 25.00 to become a gold member on this forum. This is our home and Spark and most of the Mods do a great job.I've noticed most of the posters wanting to join arn't even basic members.that means you are letting others support the forum for you.As for Mr Taylor before this love-fest goes any further please read the excellent comparisons of a real Schrade and the Chinese junk he is selling. The main reason I thought we kept this forum the was it is was to show the beauty and craftsmanship that they put into every knife they made. Now we're seeing knives with no quality control that are a pitiful excuse for what they used to be.Every time someone buys one of the new ones, thinking they got a Schrade,we lose a furture collector.Maybe if Mr.Taylor would spend a little more time on his Q/C he could get a handle on this.He could start by clearly marking his knives, Made in China,Instead of making copies of USA made Schrades then hiding the country of origin.
I make no bones about it.Every Chinese Schrade I have seen or read about was junk.I see no reason to welcome here.
Sorry to rant and ramble.Arnold

It seems more and more we end up with these new generation Schrade collectors who want to tell us what we need to do.If you don't like the forum don't join in.Maybe MR.Taylor could start a webpage where you mall-ninjas can brag about your junk knives and how many zombies and trolls you protected the world from.Arnold

Hey carp, I mean catfish, find another fourm. you join today and start telling us our business sell your crap some place else not here. that takes some balls. if it had come from someone with some credibility fine I would read it and just be pissed and not say anything, but one post and your bustin balls, give me a break. I have no problem with Mr. voyles at all whatsoever. as a matter of fact im well aware of his knowledge of the knife industry and glad he shows up on occastion to share stuff with us. This was merly a discussion where adults talk about stuff and sometimes things get heated but were all big boys having a discussion. but your 2 cents wasnt in anyone's interest.- Joel

Taylor knives are discussed in General Knife Discussion. Opening a Taylor forum in the Manufacturers section would require a commitment from the company to participate.

Geez Catfish. You wandered into a bears den after smearing honey on yourself.

TennKnifeMan,

First off, welcome to the forums! I appreciate your long-time involvement in the knife industry and contributions to collecting.

Regarding this sub-forum, I think Cougar said it well, as he usually does Taylor knives are discussed in General knife Discussion. Opening a Taylor forum in the Manufacturers section would require a commitment from the company to participate.

The Collectors sub-forum is for collectors of specific companies, in this case the Imperial Schrade Corporation and related historic brands. Keep in mind that this Schrade and Camillus Collectors forum were started after those companies went out of business and collector interest, as observed at BladeForums and eBay, really took off.

At this current time I do not believe there is much collector interest in Taylor Brands, since they are current production products and mass-produced in China. Perhaps in the distant future?
