I've been looking at getting a mini mill HF/Grizzly for a while now for doing guard work and such but I keep reading bad things about the mini mills in general and most folks suggest a more substantial unit. Well Enco just sent a flyer out and is having a 10% off thru the end of the week and they have what looks like a pretty substantial unit http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=105-1133&PMPXNO=954001&PARTPG=INLMK32 for about $1,000 delivered. Has anyone had any experience with these units? Any comment would be appreciated.

Thanks Tim

They work just fine! only problem is if working a large piece once you drill the hole you have to sometimes raise the head to change to an end mill. Because there is no knee, It is very difficult to re -align the cutter if you need to be with in one or two thousand ts. Shame you don't love closet. I have a heavier one here with a power feed that can go to someones home for a lot less. Got a new Grizz with the knee! Love it

Those bench top mill/drills are pretty good, much better than the cheap minis.

I have a little bitty Sherline mill (made in the USA) that has been working very good in my shop for 10 years. Bought it for autos but is used mostly for slotting big bowie guards lately.

Some great deals can also be had in a used mill, for those willing to look around.

This is the exact reason Im trading mine off this weekend for a knee mill but I shouldnt complain because Ive used mine for years for everything. It served me well but its time to move up a notch.
