Is Twan's folding claw a new step forward for knives?

By the way, I always been fond of Perrin's knives. They are not overpriced, and I love that raw look to them.

Hey what about this!? what if the handle could also DETACH, do get my meaning? So you unfold this knife and you hold it by the handle portion of the steel, so then with this current design the handle is just sort of flopping around getting in your way, but what if you had the option of pushing a button and detaching the handle and bingo you could have a fixed blade knife to work away with. If it was a quick little chore and the handle wouldnt bother you, you could leave it on.

Hmm...interesting idea also...it would be pretty easy to do....I don't like this design overall for many different reasons, but I think the concept has niche potential...if I had talent, I'd make my own (very different) version. Unfortunately, I have no talent.

What A.M. said. I think there is a lot you can do with this design. Just don't settle on it. If the knives in Europe suck because of the limitations due to law, then nice designs like this should carry over well were laws are not as strict.

keeping on the idea of this knife being used for outdoor/survival, what if the detached handle could be used as a tool in itself for example it has a diamond sharpener on it? or maybe a buit in fire starter, the possibilities are endless.

I believe the design allows the blade to be part of the handle thus preventing the knife from closing. I am guessing he had this in mind for countries that don't allow locking knives.
Never seen this sold anywhere. Where else can I check this out? Is there a web store or some place?
Deathshead according to what Twan wrote in his post, this is an original one of a kind, made for him by Perrin.
