Is ZDP-189 too brittle???

I've heard directly from spyderco/william Henry that they are using a laminate (layered version)to cut down on cost - not pure zdp-189. I'm almost sure they will do away with this but they will cost a lot more if and when they do.
the Spyderco models that are laminate are clearly marked on each blade. Spyderco has made both laminated (calypso jr and Jess horn) and full ZDP (delica)

The Jess Horn and Caly Jr are laminated in 420 but the D4 is pure ZDP.

May be cost. May be corrosion resistance. May be toughness... Whatever. All are great knives.

My Caly was sharper than my D4.... when it arrived. Not anymore:D

Yes it is too brittle to be used as a crow-bar or a screwdriver. It also doesn't make the best hammer or wedge for splitting logs.
