is zt a bad company?

Never had any real problems with my ZT's and have have several. If you do have a problem they have great customer service.

They deserve the awards they get for great designs. I am amazed at how they can produce such new, cool designs.... over and over and over and year after year. I don't think anyone in the production knife world can compare. Obviously they must have a great design team! Out of all my ZT I think I've had only one or two with a sticky framelock, but other than that they are all fine. They are not for everybody though..... they are real beefy knives, not thin whittlers or slicers. So yes ZT is a good company. The knife community is better off for having them.

Zt is bad,....bad ass! Dunno where OP got his info, but get one for yourself and you'll see it isn't hype. They BRING-IT, for sure.

Never a dull moment with ZT. Every model has been flawless for me, and the customer service behind them seals the deal. Go buy a ZT 0550 and post pics before you are labeled a troll FOREVER!

Based on his thread I'd guess reading and writing are not strong suits.
Perhaps he is better at "gazintas"...

Throws shoe at troll...doink...

ZT is an awful company. Their dedication to innovative designs, top-notch materials, and excellent warranty service, leave my bank account empty.

Well with anything on the internet, one or two bad stories and it will get carried into infinity. Yes they have had a bad batch of ELMAX where the knife couldn't hold a edge. I'm sure they have had their fair share of lemon's also as with any production company. At the very least, they have good customer service that will fix their mistake.
Sometimes its just people being overly picky.
One thing I do like about them is that they have some pretty cool designs and collabs from high end makers. Its nice when a maker can bring a design from another maker (especially one thats priced way out of most people's budget)

I own a couple Microtechs. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Every blade that I have gotten and every one that I have seen from them has beenas close to perfection as you can get. Some people have the same things to say about them like their quality is slipping and the grinds are off etc etc etc.
What is consistent is that MT is very inconsistent in their customer service repairs. Some get theirs service really quick, others can take more than 2 months. Because of this, I would rather retun the knife after a day or two if I can't "fix" the problem by breaking in their knife

I have heard pretty bad things about zt. But I like their designs the bad things I have heard are bad factory edge and grind, poor heat treat on elmax etc. What do u think

If I told you what I think (about your troll'ish behavior) I might be banned from BF's.....

No, they aren't a bad company, and welcome to Blade Forums.
Just ignore the negative post. Say something about this brand and they will come out in full.

If you read enough you will hear some bad things about most any knife company.
Sorry you're having so much trouble making up your mind, but I think you are over thinking this.
I don't think you're trolling at all, but just having a hard time deciding, as many new to knives do.
With so many choices it can be overwhelming at first.

I don't have a ZT, but from what I hear they're a great buy, and make a quality knife.
If they weren't a great company we wouldn't have so many here that love them.

Try to stop over thinking it, and just order one already !
If it has any problems you can send it right back.

This is definitely one of those cases where a noob should be doing more reading than posting. :thumbdn:
