Isn't it time for a WOLFGANG LOERCHNER display?

Let me begin with three amazing knives from the Don Guild collection,
as presented on two facing paged in my next book.

I am sure that quite a few of you have samples of Wolfgang's wondrous
true hand made knife art. I feel that we should have them all on display
in one beautiful thread.

Maybe we can also get Wolfgang himself to post some pictures
of his designs from the drawing board?

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

From my next book "The World of Art Knives", (May, 2010)

I have a small piece:

It's a relatively simple piece compared to those David posted, but like all of Wolfe's work, it has layers of complexity. The work on the bevels is particularly eye pleasing.

At the moment I don't have any pieces of Wolfe. I wish I had. I sure hope to obtain at least one somewhere down the line, but for now I have to do with as many photos as possible. So people show me the Loerchners.

Joss, although indeed a small piece it shows all the elegance Wolfgang puts in all of his knives.

Ah, Joss, there is nothing really simple in a relatively "not complex"
knife Wolfgang creates by hand carving and hand sanding
and polishing steel.

You said it well... "Layers of complexity"...

Wolfgang is a genius, and it's high time there was a thread devoted to his work. Good call, David:thumbup: (wish I could contribute more than these few words...)

I love Mr. Loerchner's work and have handled one of his pieces.

I am anxious to see a thread just on him and think it is a great idea

I also think Wolfgang is an amazing craftsman but regrettably have none to show.

Hope to see MANY posted.:D

Hi David.. I can contribute a couple photos of a wonderful small dagger by Wolfe that I added to my collection
several years ago.. One of the very few "desk" pieces I have ever seen that uses Damascus for the blade.. The
grind, fit, and hand filing, are of a level that is truly off the charts... The pieces you and Joss posted are outstanding!!

Best Regards, Rich

Wolfe is one of the best makers to bring out the beauty of damascus steel by carving.

In my mind's eye, this little knife is most dramatic in it's simplicity. I absolutely love (read that covet) it.

Wolf is a true artist and craftsman.
He will be one of our participating makers along with Steve Johnson and Edmund Davidson on the 2010 CKCA Cancer Research Knife.

Wolfgangs work is so clean and flowing

Kinda of an art deco kinda look

From what I understand he does all this by hand

I like on the folder that Chuck posted the Habaki looking bolster I have never seen this done before

reposted from some of my CKG show reviews

What a rare privilege, to see and probably even handle
several of Wofgang's pieces at these shows!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

How in the world can human hands, using only the very basic
tools, create such an amazing piece of perfection??

Come on Wolfgang, give us a short description on how you do it.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
