Isn't it time for a WOLFGANG LOERCHNER display?

Or, Wolfgang, how you go about planning and then breathing
life into creations like these that are now resting peacefully in
the collection of Don Guild?

All the best,

His work is among the best. Beautiful. Looking forward to seeing what he has for the AKI show in October.

Wolfe is an artist that puts the ART in art knife. The pieces in this thread are simply spectacular! If only I were rich instead of good looking:D

When is it NOT a good time for a Loerchner thread?:D

Here is Wolfgang's "African Dream", created in 1993.

An Integral construction, made of 440 steel with engraving and
gold inlays by Martin Butler, who also gave the knife its name.
Overall length 13” (330 mm).

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Thank you for this thread David. It is great to see some of my early work again. It is humbling to read all the comments.:o
As requested, I will add some design sketches and some photographs as soon as I get some of them sorted out on my computer.

Me and everyone else can't wait for your contributions, Wolfgang.
Thanks for joining us!

These knives are gorgeous. I hope to at least handle some in person one day...

Thanks for the beautiful pictures.

Some of Wolfgang's folding knife art from the collection
of Don Guild (Hawaii).

Does it get any better than this?

not in my opinion! I feel that Wolfgang is one of the greatest living knife makers/designers.

Posting these beauties for a friend and fellow forum member.. Not much else to add to everyone's comments, it's all been said.. Hope you enjoy these.. Best Regards, Rich

Rarely does one see such fluidity and harmony in cold steel... artistry and craftsmanship at its finest.

Rich, your friend is fortunate to own 5 of these beauties. I think they all are beautiful, but I like the middle one the best.

What a rare privilege, to see and probably even handle
several of Wofgang's pieces at these shows!

You got that right! Having a maker of his caliber attend a show about 20 min. from my house is a real treat.

Great thread, suberp knives.
