Isn't the Scott Cook Lochsa the most beautiful knife?

You luck b@astard :) I'm green with envy Vermy! Please share some photos when you get it. Oh, and if you find it's just not the knife for you (yeah right :~), I'd be happy to take it off your hands for you :)

Patrick, last week Scott told me that the wait is up to 12-16 months. Since he doesn't require a deposit, you may as well put your name down!

Good point arcanum. I just may drop him another email today.

I went to the Vegas Classic and I had planned to be there when the show opened. Well it wasn't to be, by the time I got there it was 7PM. I talked to Scott and he only brought 2 Lochsas to the show and of course they were gone within 5 minutes. Well at least he's not Emerson, bringing 20-30 customs to a show and having a 5-6 year wait list. Anyway Scott said that he felt that the Lochsa was rather plain.:) ;) :p

How do u take it apart and clean/maintain it?

looks nice but dont see any reason to replace my sebbies with 1.

does the contoured handle cause more rub/wear and tear while carrying it in your front pocket?

would have to hold 1 and put in pocket b4 i could say whether i like it, but IMO looks like a plain old knife that has contoured handle;) nothing to special for $500 bones and over a 1 year wait

Voo-Doo you have a point. I would describe the Lochsa as a "fancier contured" large Sebenza. It's not for everyone. Look at it this way. Scott doesn't require a deposit. Put your name on his list and put $50/mo. into a savings account and by the time the knife is ready you will have a nice little start on the purchase price. ;) The knife comes with a little tool to loosen the pivot. I imagine that the cleaning/lubing process is very similar to that of the Sebenza.

The same thing can be said for several other knives.

to me, the lochsa is like the beverly hills version of the sebenza on steroids & plastic surgery.. i love the longitudinal satin finish on the blade, as well as all the other attentions to detail.

yeah, i want one too, but i'd prbably get another duncan aftershock or a martin avenger before i get a lochsa.

Having just purchased a Lightfoot as my 1st custom, my first choice was a Duncan, I just couldn't find one at the any of the custom retailers in the handle material combination that I wanted. How long have you owned yours? How about some photos or a description for me to envy :~)

Your original post is indeed correct. The Lochsa folder is one of the sweetest knives around. We sell Scott's knives on our website but the demand for the Lochsa is so strong that we don't get that many in stock. We had two available in August and they were both sold on the the day that they were posted for sale. Scott also sells some really sweet fixed blade knives. You should check those out on his website.

i've owned mine since jan 1st, so i'm definitely honeymooning with it still. i don't have a digicam, believe it or not. but when i do, the aftershock pics will come with a vengeance!

--4" S30V blade, longitudinal semi-mirror finish done by me with 1500 grit wet/dry
--9" overall length
--green canvas micarta scales
--titaniun liners & pocket clip
--all screw construction (there are hidden screws under the green micarta handle spacer)

in terms of materials, etc, i had brad make it to my exact specs.. just wikkid lovely lookin. the pics will drop soon as i get a camera. meanwhile, my jaws will keep flappin about that knife.. i'm sure you're thoroughly enjoying your new lightfoot.

I was fortunate to pick up a Lochsa recently. I could not be more impressed with this knife. Without drawing comparisons to other specific makers and models -- and I think I own or have owned most of the regularly mentioned tactical/utility makers and models -- I don't remember ever being this impressed with a knife.

It's easy to understand the Sebbie comparisons because of Cook's past relationship with CRK, and the fact that the knives do look similar in some photos. You really do have to handle a Lochsa to see how different it is, though. Knives of this type are all pretty similar when you think about it -- it's the details that set them apart -- and the Lochsa has to be handled to appreciate the details. The palm swell, the ramp on the thumb stud, the clip, the contouring of the frame....

In a nutshell, the knife is as comfortable/more comfortable than any I've held, as sharp/sharper than any I've received, as smooth/smoother, locks up as well/better, etc.

For me, it's one of the best overall packages for utility EDC that I've seen.
