ISO the $50-ish kukri??

All,
Looking around a bit and am intrigued by kukris. I know that HI imports is hands down the favorite. But, well out of my range at this point.

By my reading..
CS is hit or miss, it has some people that love it, others not so much.

Kabar, overall has got pretty good feeback.

KHHI, is in the range (not sure how much shipping is) but seems to be overshadowed by HI.

Use is going to be primarily brush and thorn bushes. Thinking max of 12' blade..
 
Those aren't khukris but are KLOs (khukri-like objects).

I'm not saying that they won't chop, but they won't chop as well as a real khukri. Less balance, no differential blade thickness from spine to edge to reinforce the entire knife, machine made from stock steel isn't the same as a forged knife.
 
Imagine an axe - see how thick it is Now imagine an axe with a head thats as thin as a machete.

Looks a bit the same but doesnt work the same.

exageration i know - ....
