Good Morning Blade Forums,

I recently agreed to a trade with a registered user in this forum who lives in N. Carolina--communication had been good, and we agreed to ship Monday of this week (Aug. 12). I sent my package out, and, through tracking, confirmed that it arrived Wednesday. If the knife I traded for had gone out Monday as well, it would probably have arrived Wednesday, or Thursday at latest-- now it's Friday and still no knife, and also no email--can't get a reply or an update. I don't want to jump to conclusions--and all my experiences with BF members have been straightforward and honorable to this point--but I am starting to get concerned. Any thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure you will hear from the "settle down, life happens" crowd shortly, but if communication was prompt before the trade and non existent after, you should be worried.
Sure, it could just be slow mail, or maybe he waited to get your end first, or "life" really has happened to your trading partner (let's hope not).
We can speculate till the cows come home but it sounds like it is his behavior that has changed and not yours.
There would be something wrong with you if you weren't a little worried.

I would touch base with mods in the trade forum, they can try to help you get the other party to respond.

I have been in your shoes and there is not much you can do but wait and see. After a few weeks you should definitely "out" the member. Earlier if he is active on the forum but just dodging you.

Good luck.

Again, did you get a tracking number from the other party?

I gotta tell ya, (I am gonna put on my asbestos suit) I will no longer trade with anyone that is a "registered user"....... if the forum does not allow them to sell stuff, why allow them to trade? IMHO, trading is an easier scam than selling. Just look at the GB&U threads.. If a guy scams you on a sale and you have used PP or a credit card you can undo the deal. On a trade you are depending on his ethics to send you back your property. Bad idea...

This is DM7 writing--I'm a Gold Member here. I'm writing about a listing in the 'Trade: Knives and Tools' section of the Exchange Forum, dated 7/7/2013, concerning a Benchmade Snody Juju. This knife has already been traded for, though you would never know this because this member has not updated the listing. He has not sent me my knife, either.

I contacted Leon Aug. 8th to offer a ZT 0300 in trade for the BM Snody Juju. On Aug. 10th, he agreed to the trade. Here is his email:

I accept the clean trade for my BM Snody JuJy for your ZT 0300. You got an address? Ill ship monday.

Sent from Yahoo! Mail on Android

That was Monday, Aug. 12th. That same day, I sent the ZT to Leon in Greenville, NC, Priority w/delivery confirmation. Tracking confirmed that it was delivered Wednesday Aug. 14th. That's about when the BM Snody should have arrived. It's now Saturday, and still no knife. The biggest red flag here is the fact that Leon was very prompt answering emails when we were discussing the trade, but since I sent the ZT--nothing. No more communication, no more answers to emails. I know sometimes 'life happens'--but it only takes 30 seconds to send a quick email. I'm ready to retract this accusation if the Snody shows up, but at this point this feels like a scam (and, if it is, it would be the first time I've ever been scammed by an active, registered member of BF--bummer). Beware of this individual.

This is true. If I am dealing with a Registered or Basic member on a trade, they will be shipping first, especially for newer members. End of discussion.

Hello David,

The knife did ship. Hate to be that guy to gives an excuse. I shipped it out on Thursday afternoon. I was somewhat late in trying to ship. Work has been me making me work doubles since we're short on staff (school starting back up). If anything goes wrong and you don't receive the package, I'll gladly ship your knife back to you thanks. Really sorry it had to come down to this. :/

Thanks.

EDIT:

I don't want to be that guy that scams someone at all. It wasn't my intention nor will ever be my intention. I love the knife community and don't want to be in the bad with anybody. I feel like i'm gonna be on that list of people that nobody wishes to communicate with. Great....i just hope all of this gets resolved.

DM7,When you get your end you should edit the title of this thread before you close it.I sure wouldn't want "SCAM ALERT" connected to my user name for googleternity.

IMHO,Less than a week & a missed email shouldn't bring this on,but maybe that's just me.

FWIW, according to his profile, he was on line here yesterday afternoon.

Wasn't online, my computer sits at home and Bladeforums and several other webpages go up. My browser is setup like that, probably happened when someone tried getting on the internet at home.

I was trying to get the overnight shipping in to compensate the time lost. The clerk said that the cutoff was at 12pm and that I missed it. She assured me that it would've arrived today and that even if I did overnight it would've arrived Saturday afternoon anyways (i dont see how that works). There is the receipt. All I know atm the my email is acting up on my phone. Several people i've been trying to contact and nothing.

Again really sorry, I dont want to leave a sour taste to my name. At all. I really hope this destroys my reputation.

EDIT Insert ^DOESNT^ between "This" and "Destroys"

That's fine, Paul. I used to be a Gold Member here as well. The only why I'm not is just because I don't browse forums as much as I used to. Just saying, anybody can pay $20 to $25 (can't remember if that's the price) to add the "Gold" to their name and scam a knife way more than that. By feedback/reputations is what people should go by, not the the Gold status on a member. Those are just my 2 cents. Don't mean any hostility or anything. Just a simple convo.

OP, let us know that you get it, and as described. Then I'd agree with the suggestion to change the thread title.
